On Toggl’s free plan, billable rates are a paid feature. Here’s where they aren’t.
Toggl Track is now simply Toggl for new sign-ups; Toggl Track stays available for existing users. On the free plan a newcomer gets today, billable rates start on the first paid plan. If you bill by the hour, that’s the number you track time for.
The real difference: whether your rates are free
In WorkSnap, a rate set on your profile flows down to every client and project automatically, and any one of them can hold its own value without breaking the ones that still follow. Rounding rules work the same way, and amounts are shown per currency in every report.
There is no paid plan and there will never be one. Nothing you use today can be moved behind a payment tomorrow.

This page is about a structural difference, not a claim that WorkSnap does more. Toggl does several things WorkSnap deliberately doesn’t:
- Free use for a small team, with more seats on paid plans
- Planning with tasks, boards and task estimates
- A browser extension that works inside 100+ tools
- Native desktop and mobile apps
When to stay with Toggl
If more than one person tracks time, you rely on the browser extension, or you plan work in the same tool, Toggl is the more sensible choice.
WorkSnap is for the narrower case: one person, billing by the hour, who wants rates, rounding and reporting to work properly without paying for them.
